Our Editorial Mission
TrueRateGuide exists to help consumers make better financial decisions. Every piece of content we publish — from rate comparisons to how-to guides — is created with a single goal: providing accurate, actionable, and unbiased information that helps readers save money.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial team operates independently of our business and advertising teams. Advertisers cannot purchase favorable placement, influence our rankings, or dictate our content. The providers we rank, review, or recommend do so strictly on the merits of their products.
How We Review Products
Every rate, lender, insurer, and credit card we feature is evaluated against the same criteria:
- APR/rate transparency — We verify rates directly with the provider's official rate sheet or application portal
- Fees and terms — We read the fine print so you don't have to
- Funding/approval speed — We track how quickly providers actually deliver
- Customer experience — We reference BBB ratings, JD Power scores, and Trustpilot reviews
- Eligibility — We document minimum credit scores, income requirements, and state availability
Fact-Checking Process
Every article published on TrueRateGuide goes through a three-step review:
- Writer — drafts based on primary sources and first-hand testing
- Editor — verifies claims, checks links, and ensures accuracy
- Compliance review — confirms no misleading statements or regulatory issues
Sources We Trust
We rely on primary sources wherever possible: Federal Reserve data, CFPB publications, lender rate sheets, and official state regulator websites. When we cite third-party data, we link directly to the source.
Corrections Policy
If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted at the bottom of updated articles with the date and nature of the change. If you spot an error, email us at editorial@truerateguide.com.
Update Schedule
Rate tables and comparisons are reviewed at least weekly. Product reviews are updated at least quarterly, or sooner when a provider makes material changes to their offering. Every article shows its last-updated date.
User Trust First
We will never recommend a product we wouldn't consider for ourselves or our families. If a product has serious drawbacks, we say so — even if it's offered by an advertiser.
